Manufacture of brake pads from cashew nut shell

Dr. Trinh Van Dung in Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University has researched and successfully made the brake pads from cashew nut shell oil, saving fuel and limiting damage to the environment.

Vietnam, the standard long brake pads are made from phenol-formaldehyde resin (PF), amiant crizotil (accounting for 30-70%) and other additives. Brake is an important part of the brake system of road vehicles, but are damaged or need replacing.


Cashew prices up

For example, the cost of higher export prices by the rate of finished products than raw materials high. Then the war situation continued to buy raw materials held by the source material does not meet domestic demand. Besides, the labor shortage is also a problem of the business sector, not to mention the productivity of workers is still low due to the nature of the industry is doing things manually.


Whether or not to export cashew processing technology?

One of the problems of this sector today is the shortage of raw materials and serious long we still have to import from African countries.

According to the Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS), from 2007 to present Vietnam has imported an average 200,000 tons per year of crude from abroad to serve the domestic processing industry, including West Africa and East Africa (including countries Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, ...) accounts for 80% yield.
